View Full Version : Can I get more out of this?

Last friday I finally received my long awaited parts. Only letdown was the memory, they couldn't get me their TwinMOS PC2700 stick and offered PNY PC2700 as a replacement. I was tired of waiting and accepted it hoping for the best.

I ran Prime95 at this clock last night with about ~1.80 volts and in the morning Prime95 was in an endless loop with ILLEGAL SUMOUT on the screen. The voltage from bios was set to 1.85V. Now I set it to 1.875V and I'll hope it's stable.

My PSU is Enlight 300W. Considering that my system overall isn't really powerhungry (only one HDD and one CD-drive) it could be enough. Software and bios report +12V as low as 11.63-11.81. Measured with multimeter from 4-pin powerconnector it is 11.99-12.09. Measured from motherboard fan connector it is 11.82-11.93.

How far could I take this processor? I know DUT3C's are suppose to like voltage. If I try to run at higher speed and 1.9V the system won't even post. What's the problem? Temps are 42-43 idle and 49-50 load (newest bios for this board, 5C lower than original and 5C higher than 14 and 16). I would like the get this running at 11.5*196MHz :D

Is Enermax 350W a good power supply? It has impressive 26A for the +12V

If you've decided that your memory is causing you problems then uping the vcore really has no effect on anything.

As for power supplies i suggest contacting Larva

I would look into getting memtest86 and testing your memory if you think you are having problems with it. If in fact you are...you need to RMA it and get a good dimm.

It runs those memory settings without errors. Problems with booting at high vcore and high MHz could indicate a PSU problem. At boot there's more power needed for a moment. I just don't want to go buy a new supply if I won't get better OC with it. I tried with 300W HEC (from dad's PC) and it did boot when this PSU didn't boot. It wasn't anywhere stable at windows though. It has 2A more on the +12V, but that Enermax has double the amount I have now.

Update: 2160MHz not Prime95 stable @ 1.84-1.82V (1.875 set in bios) I also tried with 166MHz memory frequency and no improvement.

Yes, your power supply does seem to be the problem. 2.2@1.85v should be easy for your processor. Larva himself says that Enermaxes are "lightweights" so, I'd probably steer clear of them, although others have had success. I'd go for an Antec TP380, or Fortron/Sparkle 400, myself.

i too have a Enermax 350 watt Supply. and just orderd abit nf7-s v2, barton 2500, geil 3500s. what is this power supply not powerful enough to do any overclocking?? :(

I've seen many that have had much success with them, although plenty that didn't. You should probably be fine with it.

is your model the eg365p-ve cuz I think there were several 350 watt models a couple only maxing out at 250 watt.

Yeah, I've seen many different Enermax 350W models, which of them would be the good and which of them are less good? Should I go with Fortron SuperQuiet 350W? It's about the same prize if not less than the Enermax. It's 71,90€ here, expensive but so are all other PSU's here :p

what’s your model number ? i want to know if my psu is going to give me problems and so we can figure out if it is ur psu causing u problems.

Right now ~2200MHz seems to be stable with 1.95V. Is it too much voltage for aircooling? 54C max. temp. (it's so freaking hot in here now, +30C ambient).

edit: updated my sig

It seems that it was only Prime-stable. 3DMark03 freezes at some random point and NFS6:HP2 has video related problems at startup (could be driver issue though). After few tries, the game starts. Looks like the PSU is struggling at these clockspeeds. So is Fortron 350W a recommended PSU?

edit: tried 2100MHz @ 2V (roughly the same wattage as 2200MHz @ 1.95V) and it freezes too. Then 2100 @ 1.87 and no freeze! Must be the PSU...

what is the model number of ur PSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gautam

Yes, it almost certainly is the PSU. Sirtech/Enligh PSU's are not bad quality, but 300W is a rather small amount to have with them. A few places have the 350W Fortron with a 120mm fan, but it can be very costly. Newegg has the normal one for around $30.

Sorry, I forgot! It is Enlight HPC-300-202

I just wish we'd have same cheap prices like US/Canada, but I'll happily pay 71,90€ for the Fortron 350W with 120mm fan :D TruePower330 or 350W would be slightly more expensive.
