I got my 1ghz Tbird and Abit KT7A and I decided I would try overclocking for the first time. Right now I have it running at 1.1ghz(10*110). I am going to unlock it with a conductive pen in a week or so and raise the fsb and lower the multiplier. Right now I am using the retail heatsink and fan, a card cooler xt, a slot cooler next to my video card, a 80mm outtake fan, and a 80mm intake fan for keeping things cool in the case. My temps are about 30 C idle and about 45 C under load. She has also been rock solid running seti@home and cpu stability test for 2 days now. Are these temps safe to run at until I get my new Vantech Heatsink/Fan in about a week and a half? I don't want to do any damage to the cpu and if I am risking damaging it I will back it back down to 1ghz until I get the new heatsink/fan. Thank you guys very much for the advice.

my amd 750 runs 36 deg idle and 51-53 under load, that 51 deg is while its running seti screen saver overnight and the 53 is running quake..... its overclocked to 970 my voltage is the maximum default 1.85 showing a 1.94v on motherboard monitor 5.......

hell lemme know if im runinmg too hot as well hehehhe

ps: if u havnt unlocked it yet how come ur oveclocked by 100mhz?

as long as the temps are accurate 45 shouldn't be a problem. I don't know why, but my idle temp seems much higher than everyone elses... my 1GHz T-Bird is at 1.31GHz (at the moment anyway...) and is around 33 idle and as high as 38 full load using a PEP66. I'm trying to drop the voltage a bit more and see if it remains stable

I overclocked it by raising the fsb to 110. So it is running at 10*110.

temps in the mid 50`s are fine at full load but if your looking to squezzzze every last mhz out of your system then you cant get to cold ;D

kat's on the button. people are used to intel temps, and get a shock when they see amd temps. the amds run a LOT hotter, but it's normal and isn't going to damage your proc. cooler temps will get a few extra mhz, but it's not a life or death issue concerning the longevity of your processor.
