Before upgrading to DSL, I had used a Best Data v.92 modem in my computer. Apparently, my motherboard (a Biostar M7MIA) has fallen in love with my modem. If I move the modem to another slot, the system refuses to POST. If I remove the modem altogether, the system still refuses to POST. This is after removing the device from the Hardware Profile in Windows. I can't find any BIOS settings relating to this.
There's no logical reason why a system should refuse to POST without a particular modem in a particular slot. Windows trouble, that I could expect. But, something going wrong at the BIOS level because of a modem?
Any idea what's happening?
