Either ATI or nVidia based cards will be good cards. Go with brand reputation (I would make Sapphire and Asus my top choices of the brands on your list).
Here's another to consider: Crucial 9100 for $78.99...

I have a 9000Pro. I'm pleased with it. It runs unreal with 70FPS, all details maxed on my system.

The 5200 is better/faster than the MX 440 or the Radeon 9000 so out of the three, I would choose the 5200. Asus is the only brand there I'm familiar with, but make sure it's the version with 128 bit memory adn not 64 bit. And I could be wrong but I think video cards from Crucial are not good. I know the 8500LE from Crucial is clocked at WAY lower than other 8500's, but I don't know if that applies to other video cards from cruicial.

Don't get the Crucial 9100... its memory runs at a whopping 166mhz.
None of those cards are stunning. Go to Newegg and spend $60 on a 9100. That's the best you can get in that price range.
Edit: Just looked at the Crucial card, and apparently they've changed the memory on the 9100. The 8500LE used to have 6ns memory, but the 9100 now has 5ns, so 200mhz is probably what it runs at.
Yeah, get one of the Sapphire 9100's from newegg. As far as I remember, they come clocked real low at stock, but overclock very very easily much higher.

The 64mb cards are supposed to come clocked at 250/230. I just looked again at Newegg and the price is $65, but there are no other competitors in that range.

what exactly are you looking to do with this card? if you aren't gonna be gaming then i don't see the reason to throw out money on something ya don't need.
I have a GF4 Mx 420 in my 2nd computer. I don't game on it, or do anything stressful. It's cheap, gets the job done and doesn't cause any problems.
my main rig i have a GF4 Mx 440 128 ddr. I've outgrown this card and waiting for my 9500np to come in. I can game with this card, but it's not a screamer by any means. in fact, it's probably the minimum i can get by with although i bought the new star trek : elite force 2 and after a few hours playing, i can tell the card is overheating by the stuttering of in game play.
anyhow, point being if you aren't gonna be playing games with it, no need to get a card worth more than 50 bucks imo.

Yeah, that's the card that my friend got. He got both the memory and core far higher than that; can't remember what exactly but around 300 for each.
Voodoo 3 3000!
Its in my other rig... hey it plays CS, Quake3, Unreal, and all those other old school games like a champ!!
Smooth as silk with that giant 16mb of memory!

so ati 9100 or nvidia 5200 ?
Well I am going to be doing some gaming in it but not a lot. Like maximum is Warcraft III Frozen Throne.
Not into DOOM3 and such which would need min of 9500.

I'd look to see if you can find a deal on a ti4200. I've seen a lot of posts from the american member giving links to ti4200's under $100. A ti4200 would comfortably walk over an fx5200.
Yes, the Ti4200 would certainly be your best choice, if available within your budget. If not, the 9100 would be the best option.

got my visiontek 9100 64mb for $80 maybe 4 months ago... i only bought it because the gf4 ti4200s hadn't dropped enough in price for me to afford it.
i really would avoid the fx5200... it may have dx9 support, but it can be outrun by an overclocked gf3 in some situations.

hello guyz..
just one thing .. here is one think i want to ask u guyz... as i am going to buy a card for my pc and i am going to buy a geforce fx5200 128bit.. but u guyz say this is not a good card compared to ti4200, why, which card has the best graphics, i am not talking about bring down the graphics levels and get a high benchmark, i want good graphics , long lasting may be for 1 Year, reasonable bandwidth.......
i play max payne, ut 2k3, half life, etc... i just want answer to this question, not a comment that ti4200 is good or fx5200 is good
thanks...
Edit: and one thing other i am buying it through my causin in USA directly , will it be cheap than an online store..

think about it this way, you want top notch performance on an older model or crap performance on a new model??? you will be better with a geforce4 ti 4200 anyday
I agree. The ti4200 has the best bang for the buck at the moment.

If it is your price range go TI 4200 it is the same card as TI 4600 (only slower mems) so if you are lucky you can OC it to run as a massive TI 4600.

and what will be the price if i buy it from a shop, store or dealer directly, or from an online store..... will i find a cheap one than online store if i search for it in street shopping...
i'd go with either the asus or saphire... based soley on reputation. i'd also stay away from the Dx8 cards.

I have a sapphire 128mb 9100, default at 250/200. I can hardly get 250mem without horrible artifacts. Is it only the 64mb version that oc's like crazy?
