On the floppy dirve, I'm all of a sudden missing pins from the back of my floppy drive(pins for the cable to the mobo). How much will this affect the data transfer between the floppy and motherboard?

happened to me too, it didn't work after that.

Makes me mad, because I haven't needed to use it, and I bought another one.

did the pins just break off of the back of the floppy into the cable or what? or did you just realize after having it unplugged that there were pins missing?

is it plugged in currently? i would just be surprised if it would work with missing pins...

Sometimes some drives have one or two pins missing by default. Can you see them still stuck in the cable or maybe they weren't there in the first place?

Often, there is a pin missing right in the middle of one of the rows (smack bang in the middle)

Also, I have seen floppy drives with a pin in the corner missing.

If, however, the pins have broken off (if you found them elsewhere) then the chances of your floppy drive working correctly are very slim.

They were all there when I first got it (I think...maybe the optional middle pin missing) and now I have a majority of the pins on the lower row missing...I don't even know where they went! I didn't find any stuck in the cable...this is disturbing...I think they may have been pulled off with the cable, but how?

I recently put the FDD in another computer I was building for my nephew and it was fine. I put it back in my computer and went to connec the cable, and it was like...WHOA! WHAT HAPPENED??? This sucks...this drive is new, too. :( I barely bought it in April of this year.

if it was a ground, it probably will work as there are several. But if it was a row of pins, my guess would be that it will not work.
