I am using a Duron 800(unlocked via defogger repair) 128mb Pc1600
(Crucial), Inno3d Geforce 2 Mx 32mb, 20gb Maxtor, and Iwill KA-266 DDR
board. I am aircooling using an arctic win cooler. I put everything in and
booted for test. Perfect, no problems, so i upped the multiplier to 9x. It would
post at default voltage, which was 1.58v. It actually booted at 1.65v. No
problem right, still have alot of voltage left, and everything is staying cool(97
degrees F). But no matter what I do, or how high i raise the voltage, it just won't
post with the multiplier at 9.5x or higher. Since I am using DDR,(which seems to
be more volatile to FSB overclocking than SDram was) I cant do a whole lot
with the FSB. Right now I am running rock stable at 927 with 9x multiplier and
103 FSB. But for a 800 Duron, that doesn't seem right. Especially since I hit
900 at 1.65v. Any suggestions, do you think it is the processor or the board.
Everything I read about the production model of this board on the overclocking
sites was good, but something just isn't right. (I did update the bios, it didn't help)

Any help you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks

To get the Duron some higher, you definitely need to increase voltage. Read Rob Cork's article about voltage modding and oc-how-to on the homepage. You can click simply on his name on top of the page, as he was nominated for January winner. I see you've taken care of good cooling, so some extra voltage wouldn't hurt. See if 1.75V get's you to 950 (9.5x), this should be no problem. Most of the Tbirds-durons do 1.85V (mobo-max) easily, as long as you've taken care of proper cooling.

I already tried upping the voltage to 1.85v. It made no difference at all. Not for multiplier or FSB, but i do believe my FSB is being held by memory and not the processor. Thank you for your suggestion though.

I was able to get my processor to do 945!
7.5 x 126. So my theory about my ram was wrong. Is my chip just a flop, or is there a way to increase voltage past 1.85?

I would double check your L1 bridges. I had some problems with that on my Duron 700 @ 978.
I now today got a Duron 800. It seems to run so far at 1035.52, fsb 109 with a 9.5 multiplier. It could clock with higher multiplier, but I will wait for the burn in first.
Also, a 109 fsb pushes my PC133 CAS3 generic ram to 145.33Mhz. Does not seem to faze it so far.
I never had luck with the pencil trick, nor the rear window defog....maybe just my luck.
I bought a conductive pen and applied it with the edge of a razor blade (or pin). They are expensive, but they are highly conductive silver.
Good luck

hi, i have a duron 800, abit kt7, 196 Mb. (pc 100)
my bios can get 10.5 x 112 and the memory run to 148 Mhz. ˇˇˇjoder!!! with a orb chrome the temperature is 38 ful load and the processor is at 1.85v.
De todas formas la semana que viene compraré un peltier y un water-sink para intentar llegar a 1600, creo que lo puedo conseguir.... ya veremos.
