I have been trying to read about overclocking but most of the information I find assumes that I have a basic understanding. I know how to change setting in BIOS. I have read about unlocking my cpu but I also read that I may not need to do this.
My system has:
ak35gt2r Motherboard
AMD 2200 xp CPU
Outdated Sis 64mb video card
2 sticks of cheap 256mb 2100 DDR
160 Gig ATA 133 HD
Onboard sound is used
Like everybody else I want more! I am considering buying an ATI 9500 video card and trying to mod it. I am also considering new memory...Maybe a 512 mb 2700 stick. I have even started to think about a new processor, but Im not sure that I am getting all I can from my 2200. I dont want any terribly risky mods.
Heres my questions:
Can I just try changing numbers in BIOS to find out if my CPU is unlocked?
If so what should I change the numbers to for a good start?
If not then what else do I need to do before changing my bios #'s?
What componets should I upgrade first in order to get the most bang for my buck? I know this one is subjective but Id be interested in different opinions.
