Ok this **** is pissing me off...........
I tried to overclock my 850 athlon but came back unsucessful. I had the fsb up to 116 and booted fine reset to 100 fsb and tried to up the multipier to 9x and no boot what the f____!
I recieved my atholon 850 back a couple of days ago and i poped it in and wham ....not a damn thing? but i did have it tested and it cam back fine???
so, needless to say i start cruising the net and find a 700 duron for 56$ so i opt for one.
I just poped it in and, cool, bios can up......everything looks good....windows boots......COOL
so being a little greedy i shutdown the computer, went into bios and changed the multiplier to 8.0 and to my dismay not a damn thing happened the stupid thing didn't even post.....any sugestions???
Does any of this make any sense???..........
Yes both chips had L1 bridges unlocked.......
and both booted prior to changing the multiplier......

You say all the CPU's you've tried were 'unlocked'. I just wanted to make sure you understand that 'unlocked' means that the L1 bridges are connected (not disconnected). Maybe Rob C. has some idea's on this one?

This may not help you any. I am having a simular problem, but I can get my 800 duron to 900 before the exact same thing happens. The only think I can say is double check your L1 bridges with a magnigfying glass, and use conductive paint or rear defogger repair instead of a pencil. Then play with the voltage. Have you tried more than one setting on the multiplier, might try 2 or 3. And last, you might see if there is a bios update for your board. Good luck, and if you find anything I didn't mention that works, post a reply on mine please. it is "800@927 Someone help me please!" Thanks.

You said that it would boot at default multiplier. Reset bios using the cmos jumper on your board, or pull the batter, for 5 sec, that should set it back to default and you should be able to check everything then.
