can i overclock this machine without problems

I've heard the P5A and P5A-B to be good overclocking boards for K6 series chips. Successful overclocking also has to do alot more with your other components, and system cooling, though. You should be able to get 500 out of your chip, I would not expect much more. Just set your mobo to 5x multiplier and 100 MHZ FSB (should already be there). Boot it up - if it does not go into windows, start increasing CPU voltage, in the smallest increments possible, until you get into windows with no errors. Once you are in windows and run the thing for a while (several hours/days) you know the thing is OK. Repeat this process if you want to go further - next step I'd recommend would be to go to 525 MHz, then 550. I had a K6-2 500 that maxed at 560, so dont expect much outta this chip. Good luck
