View Full Version : Best MoBo
Hi People,
At the Moment I have a AMD Duron 800 and I've Clocked it at 920 on a Giga-byte (GA-71XE4) MoBo and it's very stable and Cool. Can anyone suggest a better MoBo as the MoBo I have can't change the Multiplier or System Bus more than 115Mhz , it's nice that I can over clock the Duron to 920 but I know it can go more and would like to get more out of it. any help much appreciated.
This is the first Overclocking I have done and I don't fancy mucking around with the "L" settings on the chip. is there any other way of changing the Multiplier or voltage settings.
;-) :-) :-#
Thanks
the best mobo you could go for is probably the abit kt7a-raid. they're great boards, and people seem to get really good overclocks with them.
Thanks my friend, I'm just checking out the website.
Thanks again
The ASUS boards are excellent!, the new rev.'s have multiplier changing in the bios. they also have raid or you can mod the bios to do raid on the ultra100. :)
check them out at www.asus.com

[H]ard OCP found that their A7v-133 had pretty poor memory scores in sisoft sandra - I don't know whether that was just their board or what. But the abit KT7a (with or without RAID) and the Iwill KK266 have both been consistently getting great reviews - I'd go with one of them, probably the Iwill as it seems to marginally outperform the KT7a in benchmarks :-)
I've never heard of Iwill boards, I checked their Site out ( Click Here to Check it out (http://www.iwill.net/products/Products.asp?Category=60))and they do some impressive MoBo's, I'm impressed, do anyone know if they are available in the UK?
What I can tell You is only DON'T BUY QDI KINETIZ!

I particulary like the IWILL board. It is the KK266, it seems to be much more stable at higher fsb's than the KT7 or the A7V.
Thanks Trinity, this is way i asked to get different Opinions, The Iwill boards do look good, I'll keep watching and waiting to see how this Conversation goes.
Thanks once again

i hear ya' budy i bought a QDI and what a piece of crap. 4 fsb settings and thats all the folks.
Thank Guys
Just got me a KT7-Raid very nice indeed...
An excellent choice. My Duron 650 hits 1055mhz on my Kt7-RAID. Even with my crappy case for cooling it only hits 50oC max.

I have to say, with the A7V133's poor memory scores and Iwill's RMA problem with the multiplier thing, I'd concur with choosing the Abit. Have to say I love mine. Right now, if I couldn't buy an Abit, I'd get the Epox 8KTA3 or the MSI K7T Turbo. anyway, good luck with the KT7-Raid.

Noooo!
Get the KT7A (Raid is optional)
The FSB on the KT7 (non A) doesn't OC the FSB
worth a darn!
Hoot
i goto a kt7a with out the raid as i see no point in having the raid as i wouldnt use it. but the board is cool i used to have an msi 6163 and cel 500
board ok but chipis crap compared to the amazing amd duron i love the board i got my 700 up to 980 and stabble but to hot at 48C idel and so i run it at 910 lovly 210 over clock
did i mention the board is wicked!!!
well I have the KT7-RAID and it is a very nice board (A friend bought me it for some pc work I did for him so I felt Like it was a bit wrong to ask for the KT7A-RAID as he paid for it) but to say the least the KT7 is a VERY nice board nice and cool in my big tower case and all
