ive been tryin all night to oc my new 1.1 gig t-bird...so far ive got it up to 1150 stable...but thats it!.......my mobo has dip swiches to manually set the multiplier and it seems like one of the switches isnt working...so i would set it for "12" but it would post at "11". I used that conductive paint to unlock it so i dont think thats the problem...what can i do...please help!

If you want to be sure just try all the mutlipliers that use that switch, and see what they come up as - compare the multiplier that is posts at to what it should be, see whether there's consistently one switch that isn't working. If you could get the chip working in another board at 12x that would suggest it is the switch, but if it still doesn't work it's probably the L1 bridges. I think you're right though, it's very unlikely to be the bridges if you've used the conductive paint. Do any other multipliers at all work?

I tried other settings...10 and 12.5 both require the 3rd (of 4) switch to be off...but it acts as if it is always in the "on" position....so im pretty sure thats what it is...is it possible to replace the dip switches?

Replacing the dipswitches would be extremely difficult - you'd probably kill the board, and there's no way you'd be able to return it in that state. The best thing to do would be to RMA it - get it replaced. It seems likely that it is a faulty board - the only way to be certain would be to test it with a factory unlocked cpu like one of the early (pre-week 23 year 2000) ones or one of the new 1.2gig chips. That's probably awkward unless you happen to have a chip like that lying around, or you know someone with one, so you might as well just return it and hope the new board works as it should.

You control that in BIOS too right? can you give me your e-mail? maybe you can help me o/c my 650 duron system I'm about to build to 900 stable. that's my goal. let me know.
