Hey,
Here is the new cat 3.6 drivers.
http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=214994
Ok I wanted to make this thread to keep all problems with cat 3.6 drivers in one thread instead of having many threads. I think people won't have problems with this update since ati was suppose to fix a lot of game problems that people had in 3.5.

not really a problem but you DO need DirectX 9.0 :)

uuuh, ok, i still have DX 8.0 with Cat 3.5.
i tried to install it but it gave me these error messages:
[INF error - Video drivers not found]
then
[Setup was not able to complete installation. Try to setup your display adapter with standard VGA driver before running setup.]
so i tried to install 3.6 drivers with both 3.5 still on, and with 3.5 uninstalled...it lead to the same message.. What shouold i do?
I think you need DX9 to run the CAT 3. drivers. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Your supposed to be running DX 9. Read the page about the drivers since 3.0 and it will tell you that ;)

I'd say, remove all ATI software from control panel, then go to the device manager and remove the display adapter, then reinstall everything all over again in the order specified at the ATI download site. That will prolly fix it.

SUCCESS! i think that from the looks of it, everything is fine now, i just took your advice retrospooty, and it worked like a charm. Now, i forgot how to check what version of Direct X i have as well as the drivers. (for drivers i went to displlay properties but it gave me a bunch of #'s as the version so im not quite sure now).

What's wrong with dx8.1? I have used it with Cat 3.0 through Cat 3.5.

cat 3.0 and up are designed for use with dx9. not that it can't work, just that it's not meant to. I've jus d/l these and i'm installing now. I had major problems with 3.5 and raven shield. Hopefully that will be fixed here because some things with multimedia center and dvd playback using tv out were resovled in 3.5 an i been waiting for that. I'll post back with them and rvs results.
good luck all.

no good if you play RVS, smoke lag is allmost as bad as cat 3.5. 10fps or so in heavy smoke. no bueno.

LOL, ummm. no. Rvs requires a gforce or radeon class card to run, my 8500 bbATI (not le) while a little dated, is still a wicked performer. I got no issues running the game @ 1024X768 AA and AF i keep turned off, all other graphics settings tweaked to the max and get 70-80 fps, score a comfy 10K in 3dmark2k1. I was only making mention of a known issue with cat's since 3.5 and smoke lag in rvs.
thanx tho,
J.

ohh, alright that explained alot to me, so when theres smooke you lagg to death? i got an idea, why dont you downlaod Omegas drivers (theyre the same as the Cat ones but tweaked so your card has betterr image quallity and that might just do the trick. If you never experiment, you'll never know what was wrong, so i say go to www.omegacorner.com and download the newest driver he has :)
