i have just built a p4p800
2.4c
512mb ram
9600pro
any ideas why, i need a quick responce please
Bad ground
Bad connector
Loose connector
Small PSU
Bad PSU
Improperly seated ANYTHING

Mobo shorted out somewhere, power not connected to floppy correctly, incorrectly mounted heatsink, cpu fan not plugged into mobo header.....just a few quick ideas.

you forgot gnomes, imps, and hobgoblins:D
The most likely things are a PSU that isn't up to the job of powering the computer, or an improperly-installed heatsink causing the CPU to overheat.

sorry i should have come back and told you :(, i fixed it seconds after i posted...the heatsink wasnt fitted correctly and it was overheating thanx anyway...
nooo, i let my mate take it home 2 days ago, he put it on yesterday and had about 3 hours without a single problem. While he was in work his little brother put it on and he got back to find it now even staying on for a few seconds, he left it a bit and it goes on...im waiting to find out whether its gonna go off again. I dont think its the cooling as when i checked then it was like 30c, so what would give it a crazy patten of brokeness like this?
Check for a loose connection somewhere. Make sure all the connectors are plugged in securely, then, while the computer is running (if you can keep it on) jiggle the wire bundle leading from the PSU to the mainboard.
