What do all you guys that fried CPU's in the past (due to heat) consider to be HOT? Like, too hot to handle. What temp range is OK? Running like 38-45 C depending on load. Think it's cool.....or a little too hot down under?
What you guys running at? What temps have you fried at? WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TOO HOT? Please, be realistic. Thanks alot for your input....as always greatly appreciated guys!!!

hmmm, I would say for the most part the highest your temps should be is in the mid 50's C. Of course, anything below that would be better. I would think that your temps of 38-45 should be fine.

I think the only real temps I've heard about with people frying their chips is if the heatsink isn't on properly, or isn't on at all...

right now my tbird 700 is at 900@27C idle, around 50C full load, ambient between 16&20C with a Gorb modded to fit the kt7....

I've noticed a situation with the temps on my ASUS A7V system w/ DURON 600. When I first took it over 1gig the temp reading was in the upper 40's. lately though, they've been in the middle 50's. I've taken the hsf out and reinstalled it with new thermal compound several times and can't seem to get below 53-56C. I've also noticed that when I first boot up cold, the temp reading is in the low 40's. I've also installed a 60mm fan to the side of the case (including modifying the case with more holes) over the CPU blowing into the GLOBAL WIN hsf, along with an additional exhaust fan on the other side of the case(modifications to the case on that side as well).I can't see how some of you guys are getting temps in the 20's & 30's with the voltages and FSB/multipliers that you're running. I guess that the ASUS probe is not that reliable.

47-50 for a duron would be what I consider too hot. My 800@1000 at 1.70V runs 42C using Seti with a room temp of 21C - not too bad.

My 650 Duron works now at 910 and under full load (stability test-ver6.0) goes to 48C. I consider this a little too much... But considering that it was heating to 54C, I think 6C lower was something, don't you... You might be interested by the way I cooled my CPU with a cheap HSF... If so just go tocnecula.tripod.com (http://cnecula.tripod.com) and check those pics. As I said in a previous post, it's not only the number and the power of fans, but also how you put them (the way they blow)...
And not to forget... if you want more acurate temp readings, better take off the CPU, bend up the termistor and aply a tiny spot of thermal grease on it. Then, when you put the CPU back, push it just a little, to ensure correct insertion in socket.

Mid 50's? Hmm....so at peak we're talkin 60+?

I don't enjoy those BSOD's....
