Just wondering... but how is the best way to go around opening the bridges on my 800 T-bird? I've heard of using a pencil etcher, is that ok, or what's better?

The pencil is ez to find and i'v read where it works pretty good,although you might have to redo it from time to time.I used the rear window defogger repair kit,you can get this at most if not all auto parts stores and costs around 7$ and you should only have to do it the one time and your done.Use a toothpick and find a magnifiying glass to make it ez.The pen is a great choice but it costs much more and you'll have a harder time finding it,you can find it and order it online but I don't where anymore.Good luck

I know about closing the bridges, I'm planning on getting a conductive pen for that, but that doesn't work for opening the bridges that are factory closed (i.e. switching the multiplier on the processer its self). Or is there something I'm missing...?

From what I understand, the only reason you would want to "open" the bridges on the DURON or T-BIRD would be to "hard wire" the voltages or multipliers. Niether would be neccesary with one of the popular overclocker's motherboards ie..ASUS,ABIT,I-WIL et al.
However, if you are using something like the FIC AZ11 (no voltage or multiplier adjustments), you may be happier changing your motherboard choice

That's what I was afraid of. I have an Amptron mobo, and as far as I know, it has no settings on it...So if I'm careful, would a Etcher work?

Try this, you can find the information you need for all of the "bridge tricks" at;
