I have a Athlon 750 Slot A CPU, MSI 6195 Motherboard, 256 MB PC100 ram, ATI Rage Fury 32MB Video Card with TV out, Sound Blaster Live X-Gamer, Maxtor ATA 100 SCSI Card, 30GB Maxtor H/D 7200rpm, 6x4x24 CD/R/RW, 10x40 DVD/CD, Iomega 100MB Zip, 56K Modem. Every time I overclock the cpu it can only goto 834mhz and be stable. I have 2 case fans and 2 cpu fans. What is my problem? Doesn't this CPU go higher than that? Can I get 900mhz or 1ghz out of it without using a goldfinger device? Any info would be helpful.
Thanks.

Before I start, sorry for replying after such time, I was a little bit busy, but here it is. I'm much into AMD classics, I have one (500@800 watercooled :D ).

Well, the fans seem ok to me, no problem there. Do you use thermal grease? If not, SHUT DOWN NOW, and get some. But because I think temps would be even higher without the grease, I think you already have grease applied, but just in case. You've applied the thermal probe in a matter it doesn't disturb the contact between your heatsink and cpu, this could also help. Your temps are a little bit high, but acceptable, for aircooling sure. I'm not familiure with Fahrenheits, but just keep temps down 50°C (about 124 Fahrenheit?).

You only apply FSB overclocking and run 111MHz, which is quite an achievement for an classic athlon. So I don't think there is much more to get in FSB overclocking. If you want to get the full potential of your athlon, go into GoldFingerDevices. These are little devices you can plug onto your athlon's debugport (which is hidden under your black cover, for now..), so you can set the multiplyer. Right now 7.5 for you, it is set in increments of 0,5 from 3.5 to 10.5. The performance increase you achieve depends on

1.Your CPU, wether it was a fine day for producing CPU's at AMD's (or not) 2.Voltage to CPU
3.Temperature of CPU aka cooling method

For your situation, expect 200MHz extra, just to be safe. With a little bit of luck, you hit the Gig. But are you willing to saw open your cover and purchase a GFD? To get some more info, here's a link.

If you have more questions, don't bother, just send them.

p.s. If you need L2 control go to www.amdzone.com they have it. Use Mathlon 3.0 with the floppy's it's easy.
