I've been wondering for a while why we haven't seen any slockets for AMD processors. I mean there are a couple of Tbird slot As out there, what's the real difference? Do the slotA thunderbirds not work well?

Did intel make the initial boards for celeron/p3 slockets or did mobo manufacturers?

SlOcKeTs?
What's this? I have never heard of them.
Maybe Socket or Slot?
Socket version , as AMD mentioned , is cheaper than a Slot one, that's why Slot AMD's are not so popular. Then , overclocking a slot Proc. is more difficult. And the last - Slot versions produce more heat. If not to mention an old Athlon Slot A, TB Slot A is the same as TB Socket 462!
So wait for more socket versions, and forget Slot!

By the way, AMD is developing a serie of new 64 bit proc.'s!
One of them is , as it is said on www.amd.com , 'HAMMER' and it is developed for HIGH COST WORKSTATIONS! Sounds fun!

I think I know what you are asking..... you want to know if there's a way to adapt a Socket A processor to work on a Slot A board... to this date I have not heard of one. I know the KX133 and KT133 chipsets are very similar but I am not sure of the capabitilty of a KX133 to run a thunderbird.... I know that people have had problems trying to run Slot A thunderbirds on KX133 boards. It would have made sense for AMD mobo companies to start selling slockets for tbirds, but not everything makes sense.
