Anyone got any remarks for this one? Got the core set at 8.5, i/o at 3.5. Runnin' stable at 1030, idle temp at 28-30c. Just installed a 120v 14 watt fan in the side of my case across form the cpu-v regs. I can run 1043 (10x-104 bus) with idle at 28c. But when temp gets to 41-43c It resets on me. I thought of the board mod, but sandra is already reporting 1.94 cpu voltage. Is this the highest (voltage) it will go without burnin' out on me?

Durons and tbirds can run over 50C 'safely' - my tbird becomes unstable at 58/59C. Many run 50-55C with no problems, so it doesn't sound as though heat is your problem here. Your temps could be being misreported though - feel your heatsink to see if it's warm to the touch - it should be, if it isn't it means there's not much heat being transferred from the cpu to the hsf. What hsf and thermal paste are you using? If you want to test whether it is heat, try running with the case open, perhaps have the comp near a window if it's cold outside to get cool air over the hsf. That ought to drop your temps by a good few degrees C, and if that stops it freezing then temperature is the problem. If it doesn't help look elsewhere for the problem, possibly to your psu - it could be it just can't supply the necessary current to the cpu when it's being stressed, especially with that 14W fan and if you have many hard drives and cd drives. Are you running a 300W psu, and if you are is it a generic type or a quality one?

Sorry. I meant to post about the highest voltage on the durons. Actually the fan is a 5x5 square (or close to it) and it's 120 v a.c.. Before the fan the highest stable speed I could run was 1017. The temp for cpu was running 43c at idle. (10x w/100/33) . After i installed the fan the idle temp went to 28c. Right now it's at 27c and holding. As I've said, this mod also allowed me to go as high as 1043. (10x w/103/34+1).

But I'm asking if anyone knows about how high the voltage can safely run on the duron 750 (spitfire- rated for 1.5-1.7v).But it reports it (via hm as well as sandra) already at 1.94v. The psu is 300 wt and amd approved. Not sure what kind.

Had mine at 2.06 for about 2 months.....never had any problems. How long do you plan to keep this chip? In 6 months.....will it cost any more than about $40.00? I wouldn't worry about your voltage. But, if your comp is resetting at what you think is 43C, you are not getting proper readings from your temps. Durons and/or TBird generallly have to hit at least 55-58C before they will reset the system.

Thanks cw. I don't know what the reset problem actually is, but when it resets I check the cmos and it reports cpu at 43c. A few times it wouldn't even go back into win until I opened a window, (with no time wait) cooled it down a few degrees and it went right through. But then I have a finicky ess-solo sound card right now that the system (kt7a) won't detect at certain frequencies, but will at different above and below them. That sounds good on cpu voltage though. Maybe I can try the mb mod later.
