View Full Version : Please help With PAL 6053 installation>>>
I just received mine, and I am confused about the use of the cushion pads on the processor. I have 4 on the processor now, do I use these with this heatsink???
The instructions say that the Athlons and Durons DO NOT use the round pads for under the heatsink, th ones that come with the kit.
So does this heatsink NOT use these pads? Should I remove them from the T-Bird before I install the heatsink?
Thanks
Eric
Hi,
Just leave the pads on the CPU. You need them. Dont worry about the extra pads that came with the 6035, I guess they are for other CPUs. Just be a bit careful when attacthing this HS to your Tbird. Keep even pressure on the core and you will be fine. Dont put pressure on one side trying to attactch the clip.
Good Luck
Thanks Achoo.
I also have some Arctic Silver. How much should I put on, and how do I apply it?
Thanks again
Eric
WHoa there. Okay. I would yank those pads off of the PAL6035. I believe those are meant for Intel processors, and have had problems with the offset being too much. The pads on the processor are okay, though I always tear em off cause I like to. Other than that. Do the first install with the mobo out of the case. If you have the clip in backwards it will be noticeable that the heatsink does not sit properly on the chip. And adjust from there.
Good luck
P.S. No thermal pads. Use heatsink grease, just a small amount.

Leave the feet on the cpu.
Don't use the pads that came with the PAL.
Take the mobo out of the case to install the heatsink.
Apply a thin, even layer of compound.
Attach one side of the clip. Centre and lower the PAL onto the cpu. Press down firmly, don't wiggle. Attach the other side of the clip.
