If I unlock the L1 bridges, how long will the pencil mark stay...If I do it i don't want to do it again..anyone know? Also is there any kind of resistance that pencil have with the CPU that it might damage the CPU?

Pick up a conductive pen and do it the right way. Or use the kit for rear window defrosting from your local auto parts store. I would agree with you in that it's easier to do it right the first time, and never look back

The pencil marks lasted about 2 weeks and then disappeared. I finally splurged and got the defroster kit and did it once the right way and will never have to do it again.

My penciling worked for about 2 weeks too. Then I got the repair kit. The repair kit works, but the pen I'm sure would be the easiest and best choice.

I agree. Save yourself the hassles of a pencil and go straight to a conductive pen. Stability seems like a "sure shot" with a conductive pen compared to any pencil I have ever came across.

Conductive is hard to find I went to most electronic store and they don't have...radio shack they have to order and wait for weeks. Anyone know where to buy conductive pen? Also I think my dad had a rear window defrosting but i'm not sure what it look like and how it work...is there a guide somewhere how to use the kit?

The defogger repair kit is a snap. Go to just about any auto parts store and just ask for one. More than likely they'll know where one is, if not just look by the winshield wipers.

As far as using it, here's what I did. I accidently shot all the epoxy onto a napkin (sounds gross, eh?) and therefore had to use all of it the first time. I took a pin and got nice thin thread on the point and using a magnifying glass and good lighting I dragged the epoxy across the lines, connecting them. I think I did it 3-4 times before I was totally satisfied with the results, but my Duron 650 has been running at 1037mhz for 1 week now without crashing. I then realized I was running at 60 degrees C and needed a better cooler. I just ordered the Alpha PAL6035 with the Sunon 60mm fan and a 120mm fan to install on the top of the case to ventilate it better.

Do you use the brush that the defrooger kit came with or no? cause to me the brush seem too big for the l1 bridges.

Also If I accidentally did it wrong using the defrogger kit..say connect the l1 bridges wrong...how can I erase it and start over without leaving any damage behind?

this is great every one using defroster kits and conductive ink i was realy hoping the pencil trick was going to fade out

gxp look here for a" micro tip conductive ink pen"

this is what the finished product will look like

Kat: does the Defrogger kit have any short term or long term effect whatsoever to the CPU? any kind of resistor like the pencil?...I don't think pencil is an option for me now since too many people have problem with it. Compare defrogger to the conductive pen..which are better in term of stability or they're just the same?

I'm going to say that the two choices' are nearly equal with the conductive pen edging out the defroster kit as the pen was designed for electronics

as for connecting the bridges being harmful I've not read any thing that would suggest so ;D

The pen is the best way to go. www.mouser.com part number 5168-2200MT

Is it ok if I use a tooth pick and dip the defrogger repair kit and paint it on the l1 bridges? There's nothing wrong with using a tooth pick is there?

mine's lasted months and months..

and yes, you can use a toothpick to apply the defogger stuff.
