Sound Blaster 5.1 Live no rear sound

I have Windows M.E. I bought a used sb 5.1 live the older one where the orange is the only color coded slot. I have a new set of creative inspire 5.1 speakers. I can not get rear and center sound I was told to go into Audio HQ to set up speakers... I tried but it will open up audio hq but when I clink on speakers it never loads up when i clink on play center it locks up my system. as a matter of fact half of the software locks me up and the other half never loads. I have tried only loading what i need...no luck...i have tried downloading updated software with the same results.
any help would be greatly appreciated

Uninstall everything. When you reinstall Don't let the disc autoplay. open up your device manager and put the drivers in from their. Then open the disc and find the software youu need.

When I was on ME I always had a heck of a time with the creative drivers on auto play. This always seemed to work.

When you get the updates from the internet are you doing a clean install?
