As I am about to unlock this 1000 TB I am looking at this rear defoger/defroster crap. I am sure this stuff is not going on my bird, has anyone used this crappola? if it has to create heat on the rear window wouldnt it have to be elec. resistant, is this good on the bridge? whats in this stuff anyway ? Permatex.com was no help. Iam going to the Rshack to order a pen. anyone have any exp. with this defogger stuff. Thanks

I used "This crap" successfully. It's not difficult and worked really well. But seeing as you're so negative about it, maybe just stick with the pen. It's up to you.

It also allowed me to squeeze a few more mhz (1041 vs. 1020) over the pencil trick. Now I can't wait for my alpha to get here.

if you understand how rear window defroster`s work ?? then you would understand how the repair kit works on amd chips

Is the partridge overclocked? If not you should figure out a way to get a few more chirps out of that bird :)

I presently have two DURONS with the bridges closed with the defogger kit. I'm sure you will find people that haven't had great success with it, but most in here have. I've been able to overclock both of these 600 DURONS (cosed bridges with kit) further than my 650 T-BIRD (factory unlocked). Keep in mind that you reach a point of diminishing return as you go with the faster proccessors. There are many 600/650MHz chips running at 1gig plus, with air cooling, a 400MHz increase. Whereas it seems that most 1gig chips are running in the 1.2gig / 1.3gig range, a more modest 200MHz/300MHz increase. Anything beyound these numbers and it seems that you have to get into more exotic water cooling or peltiers.
Whatever you decide to do keep a close eye on the temps, these chips are known to overheat and burn out in less than 8 sec if run without a heatsink and fan.
Presently I have,
600DURON @ 1016MHz (modified),
600DURON @ 981MHz (modified),
650T-BIRD @ 850 (factory unlocked, blue core)
Good luck!

I like the defogger crap it worked fine, used it on a 1.1 T-bird an 750 Duron with no problems. It depends on if you fell like waiting a week when you order conductive pen,or shooting down to the auto parts store an getting it now.

Jguad,
The rear window defogger repair compound is not resistive (technically it is, but not enough to matter). The compound is used to bridge the breaks in the rear window wires with little resistance, not to act as a heat producing wire segment itself.

If anyone wants a conductive pen, just call around to local electronics stores and ask for a Circuitworks Conductive Pen...simple...same day delivery :)

Well my opinion for what it is worth. I used it and it worked great there was no special tools to buy and it is easy to find. The only thing that I had to do was, I sharpened a tooth pick with a rasor to as sharp as I could get it , put the TBird under a magnifying glass dipped the toothpick in the KIT (not crap ) and connected the bridges First try with perfect success. Try it you might like it. Best of luck with what ever you try. Patients is the hardest thing you will need to find.
