View Full Version : Soldering the L1-bridges together?
I am curious.. is there anyone out there who tried that?
I was thinking that it would be much better than a pencil or defogging kit stuff... plzz correct me if I'm wrong about this.
i think if i were you, i would pass, im sure i read a post somwere that it works but why subject your chip to those temps
well... will there be such high temps? it doesn't need much soldering only a tiny tiny drop on each gap.
I'll try to dig out some info about this..
ok ill try again to keep you from making a key chain.... solder is very hot ... the bridges are made of metal... metal transferes heat... the bridges go inside the chip ... i hope this helps ;D
hmm I see what u mean :) *I'm slow tonite*
maybe a bad idea.. afterall... perhaps I buy a cheap duron and try anyway. hehe.
I wonder what AMD says if I email them and ask them about it :)

ok ... i have one word of advice ... don't do it ... i have seen several failed attempts ... and it is ugly .... unless you are an expert at soldering i would strongly recommend that you not try it .... but its your choice ...

Why in gods name would you even think of doing that???????

just buy a cheap conductive pen and use a pin tip to spread the liquid. It works great!!
actually it quite safe if you know what the he?? you are doing, use an ajustable solder iron w/fine tip at 15w and good silver-bearing solder. I did mine over 4 month's ago and it has not glitched. also resolder the SMD resistor's on my 700 athlon to 850.

First go to www.tomshardware.com then learn about how to use a pencil to close your L1 bridges then OC your **** with a big as fan and last never visit this gay ass place again

I guess everyone will have a different opinion, it's just to bad your SUCKS...

Soldering your cpu is relatively safe, the super small beads are on and hard in a second and there's hardly any heat generated. My buddy soldered his T-bird 800 because last week one of his conductive pen traces came up and somehow caused one of his HDD partitions to disappear and he lost 12 gig of new movies, games and apps he had downloaded. He solders Playstation mod chips with the really fine wires so he's got a groove going.
By the way homo, if you don't like this lame ass site then take your 1g@1.2 ( wow that really is quite the o/c'ed rig) and blow.
okay... I think I'll ask some scientists at my university who work with high tech electronics and see what they can do...
apparently it can be done, if it's done properly. homemade soldering in the kitchen doesn't seem to be an option.
If I decide to do it I can post the result, if someone wants to know about it.
Thx for all opinions. (except Hommie's)

Woh, that’s food for thought. Normally nothing scares me about any soldering job except my 42 year old eyes. Even the SMD stuff is not that hard. After looking at the L1 bridges, I settled for at pen. Perhaps I should reconsider. Thanks for the info.
I soldered mine under a Bauch & Lomb 30x with an 18W micro-pen and it was still harrowing. Don't drink coffee beforehand. I maintained the Lead Time Temperature spec and it worked out fine. Makes soldering SMDs look like sweating pipe. Not for the inexperienced. Conductive paint/ink is a much better approach, but the B & L will still help. My 46 year old eyes aren't what they used to be either.

i had my tbir 1000's li bridge soddered, it cost me $30.00 at a local electronic store, they used silver solder and I have not had a problem yet!

Damn! I'll do it for $20.00 a chip, including testing and return postage:-)
