I ordered 2 sticks of Corsair XMS PC3200 from Newegg and one arrived DOA... I called Corair about this and the tech seemed stunned that I had a bad stick. He said that less than 1% comes back as bad to them. He had me run memtest86 while we were talking and it generated over 1950 errors by the time it hit 22% of pass 1 on the 1st test.

I'm gonna send it back to either Newegg or Corsair for a
replacement tomorrow... I was just wondering if anybody else ever got a DOA stick from them before? I know at least 10 people local to me that all use Corsair and none of them had ever seen a bad stick either. :p

I've never had it happen, but it HAS happened on here. Both Corsair and Newegg are really awesome at RMA's, though.

Do you think it would be less of a hassle to send it back to newegg or just deal with corsair directly?

Going through Newegg might be faster. I had a stick of Corsair XMS3000 that wouldn't work at the specified speed, so I returned it to Newegg; the total turnaround time (including the weekend) was about 6 days.

Yeah I was thinking the same... I just was worried that I might get another bad stick from them.. My friend bought a stick of Crucial PC2700 from them 2 months ago and it and its replacement were both DOA but the 3rd stick they sent worked. Just don't wanna go thru something like that. LOL.:o

Never got a DOA stick but I did get 2-3 sticks that would not run at rated speed. Corsair RMA'd them all promptly and with no hassle.

I had a PC 3000 stick that was not just DOA , but caught on fire and in the process killed my XP 1900+ .

But it was RMA'd and the replacement is very good , it is currently still in my rig .

My first stick (ver2.2) was bad. It wouldn't do 200MHz without errors in prime and memtest, no matter the timings. Got it from newegg in May. RMA's in June. My new stick (ver1.1(!)) runs 210 at 2-2-2-6.

I wonder if the quality has gone in the toilet lately, the binning for pc3500 and pc3700 is leaving crap for the pc3200, or if maybe the RMA'd sticks are making their way back onto the market? Based on the number of complaints lately, I have a hard time believing the 1% claim, or if maybe most average joes never run it at the rated speed and never know...

update:

I convinced newegg to overnight me a replacement stick and I sent them back the bad stick today.

Apparently the guy said he has seen a few bad sticks of corsair in the last few weeks ... He didn't even question me about anything.
