The partition on the hdd is probably corupt. what hard drive you got.
Fdisk is a utility used to delete and create partitions. You can find it on a windows 98 or ME boot up disk

i have a 4.3 Gig Seagate HDD, it was using windows 98, but i dont have the bootupdisk, just the software application recovery cd and the reformat cd, is there any way to save it,?
Don't fdisk the drive but you will need it. Boot from a dos bootdisk and type in "fdisk /mbr" Nothing else. then reboot. This only works if the drive has a filing system still on it (you can read it, but not boot from it). Also check if your floppy drive has something in it.

try www.ntfs.com (if you're using win2k or xp and use ntfs disk formatting)
This place's dos boot link works: http://www.putergeek.com/downloads/#dos_boot
Should scan for virii before you run it though. JIC...
Good luck.

http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm << I'd grab the newest dos boot version. You don't need a cd burner, just a set of 3.5inch floppies.
