Well I got this 486SL laptop from up the street for 30 bucks broken, which totally rocks because the 486 is one of my favorite series of processors from AMD, believe it or not! But I still have a 550 Mhz overclocked 2200 Athlon, so don't take me wrong ... lol. I'm kind of an old computer junkie.

Anyways ...

That laptop needs a new battery, but I don't wanna spend like 100+ dollars for a ripoff laptop battery that would probably have to be special-ordered anyways. So I wanna build a new battery. I already built one with 1000 mAh AA NiCd cells, but it sucks. It works great, but only lasts ~1.5 hours. The stock battery from the days that doesn't charge anymore were 2300 mAh 4/3A NiMH cells, and I've seen 4000 NiMH 4/3A cells too! That would ROCK. I'd have like ~6 hours running time as my guestimation, maybe more or less.

So does anybody know a good online company where I can order individual cells, as in not in a pack already? I can totally build a nice pack, I just need new cells. And The more amp-hours (Ah), the better. And of coarse ... good prices :) Does anybody have a reccomendation? Thanks!!

Check www.allelectronics.com (http://www.allelectronics.com/), they sometimes get hold of things like that.

You might send these guys an e-mail: http://www.thomasdistributing.com. They sell lots of packaged NiMH batteries, but they don't list any unpackaged cells on their website. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had some bare cells though.

Also, have you looked on ebay for another LiIon battery? I managed to find one for my laptop on there for less than $40.
