Hey all...new to the board and have a Q. I'm currently looking to buy a 1.0 GHz with the 266 MHz FSB, but can't find a single one on the 'net. Anyone know a company that actually has some in stock? I'd go higher, like 1.1 or 1.2 if I could just find SOMETHING with a 266. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Just get a 200FSB chips and lower the multiplier(and 133MHz FSB ofcourse) and there, you'll have 266FSB chip. They both have exact same core and basically they are the same chip with less multipliers. My 1.2GHz T-Bird is 200FSB but running very stable at 1.33GHz 266FSB(10x 133).So don't waste you money(they make you pay around 20~30 dollars more) on 266 chips.

Ok, so how would I unlock the multiplier to be able to change it?

Search this board there are instructions all over it how to close the L1 bridges

Just use a standard HB pencil to connect all the four L1 bridges. If you are lucky, you may end up getting an unlocked chip. My 1.2 was unlocked when I got it. If not, simply connect the bridges using the pencil. (L1 : : : : --------> L1 | | | | ) Like so.
Good luck.

Get the 266 fsb,Thay can be had for 259 on the 1.2 gig chip 266 with shipping,In my opinion a chip tested at 266 is a step foward in overclocking,And for 259 that is a steal !!!

Yeah, the 266 would be great, if anyone had them in stock. That was the point of my original question...no one has them.

old school ...dont use the "pencil trick" there are much better ways of acomplishing the same thing ... and with better results

buy a conductive pen or get a rear window defroster repair kit
