View Full Version : Can't Up my FSB
I have a Slot A athlon with a asus k7v and i can't even up the FSB one notch. I have the latest bios and everything and mysystem has good cooling. Whenever i put it up to 101 or higher and try to start a game it crashes.

are you sure you're not doing something else at the same time. the jump from 100 to 101 is nothing, unless you have a multiplier of like....25!
You'll probably have to up the voltage a bit. If you haven't yet, you might also want to consider a GFD, so you can up the multiplier instaed of the FSB. I presently have a 900"Classic" Athlon, that hates to get any farther than 103 FSB, but I have been able to get it over 1G with a GFD.

Whats a GFD?
gold-finger device. it's a little pcb or cartridge with a connector that goes on the 'gold finger' connectors at the top-left corner of the cpu. they can be used to overclock the processor using the multiplier, which works much better than trying to use the fsb. classic athlons don't like fsb overclocking much at all. the only problem with gfds is that they're expensive, and hard to find these days.

Get a GFD. then take off the cartridge of your cpu and then overclock the hell out of the chip!!
