View Full Version : Need Help, Duron 600 @ 997
Well I've tried my best at this to hit the 1gig mark. Will post but get blue screen of death. This is as close as I can get. 105 x 9.5. Running A7V @ 1.85V,duron 600 o/c to 997 with alpha 6035 with grease,Voodoo5 AGP,256 micron. I am trying to figure out why I get blue screen or no boot when it shows 1gig. Temps around 39c idle 43c load. I know I am asking alot from this little chip. Very happy with it so. Is it possible I need to up the voltage requiring the mod to this mobo? Tried all settings. Any ideas on solution will be greatly appreciated. I have not forgotton, if it was'nt for this site I would not gotton this far, so thanks to everyone!!

If you could get that down to, say, 31 idle/35 load, I bet a dollar to a donut it would fly. On my KT7-R, I have not done the voltage mod, so I max out 1.85 vcore (Via HMS says 1.90). If I turn off the fan, my Duron 600, running reliably at 1000, will start getting P95 errors once the core temp gets up to 40C. If I raise the voltage it will run again, but then it gets even hotter and I have to raise the voltage again. At 45C, I don't have any vlotage left to give. We're not talking cryogenics here, but realistically obtainable temps. Cool it down a little more, by hook or by crook and see if I'm pulling your leg.

Thanks Hoot,
I do beleive your right. I will tell you that I was a little disappointed in the alpha 6035. It really does'nt do any better than the coolermaster I had on before. Guess I will look into the pep66 with artic silver. Think that combo might work?

First, unmount the HSF and observe both the base and core. Was the grease displaced uniformly? If not, clean both with a good solvent like flux remover, brake degreaser, etc. The worse it is for the environment, the better it will work. Then, reapply grease and remount the HSF. If your elevated temps continue, consider your case temp. A passive thermal solution like your HSF will only cool as well as the air around it is willing to accept the excess heat from it. IE Air Temp 22C HSF 32C, Air Temp 35C HSF 45C both represent the same effectiveness of the HSF, ergo, a 10 degree delta (aka differential). Just some ideas...

Hoot,
I went from a midtower to a full tower thinking I would get better scores. Currently have 5 fans in case, 1 for intake and 2 for exhaust. Also have one sitting on agp card blowing up between ps and cpu. Also have one mounted under cpu blowing to the bottom of mobo where cpu is mounted. If I remove that one my temps will rise to 45 to 48c. Yes this is overkill and sure its a little loud. Temps for mb and case are 27c according to asus probe.Loaded mbm5 and got same readings. I did apply a very thin layer to core only, but tomorrow will take your advice and clean again and reapply.

Lets see. 27C air yields 43C core under load. That's a delta of 16 degrees. That's not entirely out of line for the 6035, but do try a clean and regrease so as to not leave that stone unturned. Let us know how you fare.

Thanks Hoot
Will let you know.
