View Full Version : T-Bird 1200, how hot can it run?
How hot can my T-Bird 1200 run? It seems to freak out at around 50-53 c. Also what core voltage works best for this chip?
Get a better HSF, lower your case temps, don't use the pad if your HSF came with one, use a quality thermal grease, make darn certain the HSF sits flat on the CPU core and if all else fails, dance naked around an inverted cross covered with goats blood.
Seriously, that temp is too high! The cooler you run semiconductor devices, the better they perform in regards to frequency and the voltage needed to obtain it.

t birbs do there best work at around 35- 40C
the first thing that you should address would be temp readings ,,,,socket a boards are known for under reading temps buy as much as 25%
in order to get a more accurate reading , on a kt7 board, first bend the thermistor up a little , and put a smidgeon of thermal paste on it , make sure that you put a little extra pressure on the chip when you reinstall , so as to insure correct seating of the chip
as to how hot.......... im sure the real question would be "how cool" hehe ;D

if tbirds start to become unstable at about 60 degrees celcius, why does AMD say that they run all the way up to 90?
They don't say how well though...
Hoot
before i new what i was doing i had a 900 tbird running at 60 -70 c with a(thermal.... ****-crap- junk-garbage-orb) and had lock up`s and blue screens all the time....... and several people telling me that these temps were normal
i then bought a chrome orb pice of sh_ _ which made a slite improvement but not very much!!
the best thing that i bought last year was the kanie hedgehog which alowed me to reach 1233
the swiftech 462 let me hit 1246
awww crap, and I just bought a super orb thinkin it would help.
I e-mailed amd when my cpu was over 50c loaded. Got the reply that was nice temps as long as it dont get over 80c i didnt have to think about cooling but how lower how better. And they said i runned at temps up too 90c. i bet if i have ever reached temps that high it wold frie so dunno why they lie like that when most tbirds gets really unstable when getting over 50c
