Onboard sound or pci sound card

Hi, I'vea Gigabyte 7VAXP mobo with onboard sound. I've a litte bit old creative sb live! card also. So my question is which one is good ,weither the onboard 6.1 channel system sound or the creative sound card?

Ok...i have only had experience with the AC97 6.1 onboard sound....and it sucks...it sounds crappy and will not give you true bass dynamics, and it will kill your frame rates in alot of games. Go with the SB Live untill you can afford a Audigy or something compairable...or just keep it untill your sick of it!


The card i am running is a M-Audio Revolution 7.1...great sound quality better Snr than the audigy, but it lacks a onboard audio processor, but it is a 24bit card.
