I am just wondering how will I know if a CPU is really 1ghz or 1100ghz if it boots up and runs fine at both?

Remarking is from the time Intel still had it's monopoly. Today, it almost doesn't happen, but still be aware, because there can always be some resellers who try to *** you. You don't say which cpu you have, let's say it's an AMD, than it's stamped on the core, where it contacts the cooler. For chip coding I'm sorry to refer you another site, I don't know right now where to find it, but the truth is out there..
I believe intel also has it printed on the CPU itself, but I don't know if you can fake that. AMD seems hard to me. And by the way, it's easy to believe a Gig CPU standard has the potential to de 1100 at standard voltage.
