Cant play UT after installing Radeon9500??!!

after i installed my radeon 9500np i cant play unreal tournament(the original not 2003)
I get a general protection fault when i try to load it

any ideas?
at first i thought it was cuz it used direct x 7 and i have 9 installed but it played fine before i installed the new card
any help would be appreciated!!

Run Unreal Tournament in Safe Mode then select "Change your 3D video device".

I expect that setting things there will fix your problem.

I recently upgraded to a 9800 pro and had similar problems. It turned out the problem only occurred running in opengl and not d3d. But because I prefer UT in opengl, I checked further and found that I had an older opengl dll file in my UT system folder that was causing the problem. I removed this file, and in my case, the problem was solved.
