You know those metal grills right behind the plastic bay covers when you buy the case? i posted a question on how to remove it, and everyone pretty much said to use a dremel, but won't all the little metal shards get into/ all over the case? how do i prevent this? is there any other way to remove these things?

err.. the metal grilles usually come out if you wiggle them.. they are attached on 2 sides with little pieces of metal so they are loose. the ones behind drive ways anyways. unless you are talking about the fan grille's those you have to dremel or use snippers.

Yeah...they are meant to be removable...maybe yours punches out? Check for perforations, and try and knock it out. If you can't get them out, it sounds like you case is...well...not made very well, as you need to remove those in order to add more hardware (CD-RW, DVD, etc.).

Roll it between your fingers back and forth up and down, should come right off.

Yes...punched case parts seem to have that problem. They are almost razor sharp and you never feel it, really. I hope it wasn't too bad.

mmm, as long as i don't have to get one of those crazy shots ill be ok:D anything besides shots... my dads thinking about getting me a dremel, will there be a bit to fix the razor edges?

Yeah...you can use a grinding bit to smooth them all out, but after you do, make sure you vaccum it out REALLY well to get all the shavings out.

IMO it is best to remove everything from the case if you decide to do any grinding or drilling. Metal shavings and chips will fly everywhere and can do lots of damage if they land in the wrong place. If you dont want to remove everything (I can understand that completely) just put some tape over the sharp edge until you are ready so next time you swap a drive you wont get cut again.

Yeah...I figured it was kind of expected that you would remove everything from the case, but I guess not. Sorry. The tape idea works well, I would imagine.

If I have to cut or grind without removing everything, I put a piece of fiberglass insulation behind the metal to catch the particles because it won't burn from heat or sparks.

Smart move, but it is always recomened to remove everything. Now, if you wanted to cut like a 1" by 1" hole, I could understand the fiberglass. But if you are cutting 6 fan grills out, a top window, and part of the mobo tray, everything should be removed.

oh sorry, there is nothing in it yet... its new, haven't got all the parts yet;)

Then grind away. Just do make sure to clean it all out....SUPER WELL.
