How long would it take me to clone a 40GB Fujitsu (with like 36GB+ of stuff on it) hard drive with Norton Ghost to a 120GB Maxtor 8MB Cache Drive? Thanks!

As long as it takes. Every system is different because of how things are setup & what the hardware is. There are too many variables to give you a ballpark figure. Is it a master slave setup? Will it be a Primary Master to Secondary Master setup? How much ram do you have? What Motherboard & what CPU?

What you can do would be to walk away from the machine while it does the task & have a nice snack while you wait for it to finish:beer:

well, it's an HP Pavilion 7960 with 1.3GHz P4, 128MB RDRAM

I will be using Ghost to copy from Master drive (the 40GB) to Slave drive (120GB)

I use ghost all the time on my two systems and there is a lot of variation in system speed. My old T-bird system transfers from disk to image file at a rate of about 125MB/min while my newest T-bred system transfers at up to 800MB/min.

If you are copying on disk to another, the speeds should be about as high as your system can sustain since there is no compression or decompression involved. Going to an image file will be the slower than both copying and restoring from image.

The value of having good backup image files cannot be overstated.
