I bought a new abit kt7a and a t-bird 750. I unlocked the L1 bridges, but the system doesnt start. It shuts down after about 10 secs. I didn't change anything in bios prior to this, could it be that it tries to run with the multiplier too high?

Gratefulfor any answer.

first make sure that you didnt get any of the little brass thingies that hold the mother board down in the wrong place, then check all conections ide cables must have the red stripe closest to the power cable, then check agp and pci cards and ram that it is seated corectly
when you power up press del until you get to the bios(sorry if im being to basic) and change the settings to match your chip or load fail safe ;D

and to make sure i included a pic of the L1 bridges

What would be the minimum requirements to get into bios.
A cpu, graphic-card, memory and mobo? Do I need to have the harddrive connected? Im trying to reduce the errorsources.

if it shuts down after about 10sec its most likely that ur fan is not connected to the right plug. The bios got a protection for ur cpu so that if ur running it without a heatsink/fan it will shutdown after few sec to prevent the cpu to burn up!!

System still won't start.
I'm sure I that I' ve connected the fan to the right plug. Did a test without processor and then it didn't turn itself off.
Threre are three long sound signals from the speaker before the shutdow, is it possible to read something out from that?
I closed the the L1 bridges with conductive ink, is there a solvent to clean the paint off?
Thx for the suggestions.

i think i found ur problem. the video card is either not working as it should or is not properly seated.: One beep - board is working fine Beeeeeep-beep-beep - this means no video card detected (or poorly seated video card)

explanation on other beeps:http://www.amdmb.com/faq-display.cfm?FAQ=5#FAQ-7

Thx alot for the error-codes, I think it's the one below. I hope it's not the cpu cache.

A single tone, repeated over and over. This is a memory problem (could be the DIMM, the controller, or the CPU cache memory).

I finally solved it. After checking all components in a friends computer, I lastly tested with his fan. Worked just fine...

The problem was the fan signal, my new fan didn't send out a proper signal. Now I 've flashed the bios so the fan-shutdown is disabled.

Thank's again for the help!
