WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!
Are the drivers correctly installed? What about the speakers...are they plugged into the line out on the card? BTW: I have the same card.

the sub is plugged into the the far end of the card opposite of the 1394 input

also can check the device manager and see if the card is correctly installed and onboard sound device disabled, if there is one. I'd check the connections and, personally it sounds as if the inputs are crossed if everyting else checks OK.
and welcome, dude.

before i was using a creative 16pci sound card and that worked fine with my old speakers. should i try my old speakers and see if it is those?

Yeah, I think that's right. There should be a green wire and another one. The green goes to Line Out, and the other goes to where you put it (farthest from the 1394)...I believe...that's for Analog/Digital, but I don't see where else to put it...because the one closest to the 1394 is the rear out (and since 2.1 speakers don't have rear speakers, that's not the one to use). What's left is the Mic In and Line In which don't apply in this case.
I would follow mrgreenjeans' instructions as well (about onboard sound if there is one)...

try the speakers on a different card or card on different speakers. the card might be out or maybe a wiring problem with the speakers.
loyal creative customer?
check your sound mixer in windows and see if the volume is all the way down or muted...i dont know if that is it but worth a try.

I bought some Creative Inspire 2.1 2500 speakers recently from Comp USA. I used onboard sound on my Abit Max 2 ver. 2 Motherboard. The speakers worked fantastic for one entire day, and then I just got hissing. I tried everything I could think of to get them to work again. I had to return them. I still have no idea what went wrong. :(
