View Full Version : stability problems with a tbird1.1 that is running on default speed right now plz help:(
I bought a tbird1.1 for some weeks ago. First i had problems with idle temperatures near 40c and then it went over 45c and even near 50s sometimes. I had a fop32 so while i waited for the fop38 i tried cpucool and then choose amd cpu an changed setting for the cpu cooling mode but dont remember which. The temp rised while i was running cpucool so i closed it and the idle temp went down too 24-25c one c over system/chase temp!! i was happy because the idle temp before was near 40. but the loaded temp was still the same. After that i begun noticing problems with my computer started crashing all the time without a reason at all and i noticed the fan was slowing down and voltage did drop in via_hwm when loading the cpu with cpu intensive programs. i could even notice different in voltage by pressing the start button a couple of times. so i was thinking it may have been my psu because i only got 225w. then i bought a new chase with a 300w but it was exactly the same:( Then today i got really tired off it and put back my duron 750@950 and then i noticed there was no change in fan speed/voltage and also my idle temp was 37-39c while the chase was 28c so then why was my tbird idle temp so low??? it was the same temp as my system temp!!! should that be possible???? its the same mobo i just changed the cpu. And my system got again stable after putting the duron back. So now i wonder did the cpucool program do something to my tbird????? i have cleaned my system and reinstalled windows and its still the same ****. Or is it just my psu that is too weak???? I really have too get a solution soon before i throw this **** out of the window. i cant live with a pc that is crashing every damn 30min.
I hope my post didnt get too confusing! Its a bit too explain a thing that is so odd as this.
Thx Tomas
heh how did those smiley faces come? lol i never put them there and i aint happy either

You should use your BIOS temps. They are the only ones who are truly accurate. Software can fail, so can your BIOS, but alot less likely too. Look at your bois temps... If they report the same thing then come back and well figure out whats wrong...
Its the excact thing there. all problems begun after trying cpucool when i got the fop32. had a bit too high temps then so i tought cpucool would help me lowering the temps while i was waiting for the fop38. also the voltage/fan speed problems started then. Had no problems at all wih my cpu before i tried cpucool only thing was that the temp got over 45c but was rock solid and voltage fan speed was normal. Isnt it a bit strange that the duron is hotter at idle temp than the tbird???? the duron is 10c hotter than the tbird when idle. The tbird is around the chase temp but goes straight up too over 40 when loaded so its a huge difference between idle and loaded:(
what mother board are you using? If it is a abit which bios are you using? What kind of ram are you using? PC 100,133, 150, is it cas 2 or 3? You need to give more information on setup when making a post as this helps.
i think its one of the oldest bios i got since it dosent care if i use the fan on wrong connector. Also i tried updating to newest bios to check if things got better but it gots even more unstable so i went back to the old one. Its an abit kt7(non raid), 2 cheap 128mb sticks(133mhz cas3) Running them at 100mhz now because if i run them at 133 it gets even WORSE:( But since all thing works fine with my duron i dont thing the ram is the problem
I think you should convey a thought and then
start a new column
this would help me (and I'm not sure about the rest) get an idea of what your talking about
separate your thoughts
hard too do that when its some much things at once.
