View Full Version : Question on the pencil trick.
I have read that the pencil trick only lasts a couple of weeks and then you have to redo it. I am wondering what causes it to fail, I could see if you keep taking off the hsf and playing with it as that would allow for you to smudge it. But if you just leave it there, what it causing it to fail. I have had mine penciled for about a week and a half with no probs. The reason I ask is that I finally got my hsf on nice and tight and don't want to take it off again until I can get my hands on a defogger kit(still can't find one). Am I going to have to keep redoing this, I have also heard of people with there's going on like 4 or 5 months now and having no probs. Thanks. :-)
if your`s is working now then there is a chance that it will continue to do so for a while (enjoy). ;D

If the graphite remains in situe, it works. Simple. If it don't it don't.
If you have anydoubt - use a conductive pen ink on the end of a pin and spread that across the bridges.
Greetings! I was just asking about this very thing a few days ago. IWILL_LOVER was kind enough to post this link :

All my questions were answered. It's my understanding that in addition to graphite "pensile" lead, you can use a number of other conductive substances, each with it's own pros and cons. The page explains and offers to sell one such product.
I'm having a hard time refraining from making a phallic joke about the way they spell "pencil" on that site.
Thanks, I stopped by there and gave it a look. :-) At 1133 now, on my way up to 1200+ soon, just need a new cooler. Thanks for the tip. :-)
