Looking into Alpha PAL6035...
can't decide on Sunon, or the Delta. Price does not really matter, just as long as it fits on a KT7a board.... so that leaves PEP66 out.

Anways, I hear the delta is _REALLY_ and I stress REALLY loud. I've never heard it, no one I know has it. I'm not super picky on noise, but it does matter a little. Is it loud enoug to disturb you while you read, sleep, or need to concentrate?

I'm looking to hit the 1.4 gighz at least.... either w/ a 1.2 or a 1.3 (when's it comming out?)

I just got the new vantec heatsink with the delta fan that you are refering to. It is pretty loud but I think that it is tolerable. With the side of the case on it is just a steady hum. I guess it could be annoying to some people but I had gotten use to the sound of 2 120 mm fans anyway so this isn't really that big of a deal to me.

i just got the alpha pep66 with the 38cfm Delta fan, i have to admit it is REALLY loud, if you can imagine having a blow dryer set on low, thats what it sounds like...but it is DEFINATELY worth it, it does a great job cooling. And you get used to it quickly.

I originaly bought my alpha pal6035 with the ys tech 26cfm fan and recently switched to the delta. It is noticeably louder but my temps also dropped 5-7C on load. If you are picky about noise though, you will not like the Delta.

Yep, it's louder than any fan I ever heard, but like the others already said, its worths the pain! Oh, and I've seen some relly loud scsi HDs, pairing with the Delta!

I just installed my Alpha PAL6035 with the Sunon fan and really like it. I did bend the shroud a little bit while screwing the heatsink into it. My cats distracted me and I put it on a little too tight. However, it runs all right. I can now get my Duron 650 up to 1055mhz and keep it around 52 degrees C at full load.

Another thing to consider is great case cooling, When I was installing the heatsink I noticed my fan grills were nearly completely saturated with dust bunnies. I cleaned them out, cut out the grills (under the case in front) with some tin snips and airflow really improved. In fact, my comp runs cooler with the side of the case ON now because airflow is so much improved. Now, if I could just convince my wife to let me get the Antec case with 4 92mm fans.....hmmm.....

I think you mean the Antec case with 8 92mm fans - 4 in and 4 out ;-)

Have you considered using the delta with a variable resistor? Also with your performance goals I would not skimp on cooling.

humm..... well hope to hear from you soon since you ordered 2 fans.

If the fan is as loud as a blow dryer on LOW...and if that's w/ the case closed I dont' think I'll get a delta. I love OC'ing but that would just drive me crazy if it was that loud.....and the delta's are so much better too.

Anyone think its possible to hit 1.4 gighz w/ the normal fan? usinga 1.2? or maybe a 1.3 when they come out?
