View Full Version : How hot should a 750mhz slot a athlon classic get? say 80 degrees
this may be a dumb "?" but i have a friend that says his athlon is 80 degrees..now is it just me or should teh cpu be fried?
my 550 doesnt get nearly that hot..stays around 20 in fact...he cant get into windows so teh cpu is not being put underload...he may bring it over tommrow if teh weather isnt bad.....but damn 80 degrees???

80f? im assuming 80C, if so thats too hot even for me. although AMD claims 90C i wouldnt count on that cpu's life to be too long. venture over to his house d/l a program that monitors temp (not sisoftsandra) and check it out. 80C is too hot. Over 60C and i get scared.
80 is the max. what AMD rated them for, although I believe it was 90°C. But no one is going to run that temps, it's rediculous. My aircooled 500 ran at 37°C standard, 42°C @750 1.7V and GORB cooler. Now it does 33°C @812 1.85V, watercooled of course. These temps were just to give you an idea, but try not to go above 50°C when not OC'ed, when oc'ed below 45° is preferred, because of the stability.
