Overclocked for first time, was able to run at 900 with no problems, except i couldn't connect to network with my linksys lne100tx nic card. Can only connect when i drop my cpu down to 840..any ideas out there.

System stability is dependant on HOW you overclock. When you push your multiplyer from 7.5x to 9x, the only thing you OC is your CPU, but when you raise your FSB, you also overclock all your pci and agp slot cards too (they are a fraction of the system bus, pci=1/3bus and agp=2/3 bus for 100mhz bus standard). So when you raise the FSB, you might get unstable network cards that won't connect. I assume you're into the FSB thing, because 840 is a weird number. What is your FSB/multiplyer combination? Just oc'ing with multiplyer raise should remove the problem.

what the last number was, thirty something i beleive.
my multiplyer is at 7.5, that doesn't change. when
i bump the fsb to 115, that is when it is unstable,
i also have a fsb plus option and the range is
from 0-28. not sure what that is. again this is my first
OC exp.

FSB above 110 seems tricky to me, especially for the pheripherals in your pc. The best way to get effective performance increase from slot-A athlons is get a GoldFingerDevice to plug onto your cpu and set multiplyer. 200MHz extra almost guarantied with proper cache settings. But if 840 is stable, I advice you not to go any higher, 112FSB is high enough. You could try and raise your VIO from 3.3 to 3.4V, adds a little stability. Succes with your athlon, happy oc!
