View Full Version : In win2k my dialup password when saved always reverts to my admin password(bad)
This is a rather annoying. I click on the save password box for my isp dialup connection but despite my typing my isp password when actually dialing or the next time I click on it I can say that it's using my primary win2k adminstrator password. Anyone know how to fix this. Having to manually reenter the password every time I need to reconnect is a pain in the @ss.

How do you know that the connection dialog has your "administrative password" entered?...isn't the password shown as asteriks? If you're referrring to the fact that the password field shows a different number of characters (represented by asteriks) in relation to the actual number of characters in your password, that's normal...it's a security feature built into the OS. :)
Well in answer to your question. I know because if I click on the save password box when I try dialing up I get disconnected with the error invalid username or password. Also I know that it enters my win2k admin password because the number of characters I see is exactly that for the admin password.

That doesn't necessarily mean that your Admin password is being used in place of your dialup password, like I noted above.
Just a thought...in Control Panel | "Network and Dial-Up Connections", right click the connectoid for your ISP | Select "Properties" | Select the "Options" tab in the "Properties" dialog | Make sure "Prompt for name and password, certificate, etc." is not checked. :)
