Looked at a lot of case mods out here. When I built my comp I figured I could keep my HDDs, CDroms cooler by putting space in between them. e.g. I have a mid-tower case w/4 5.5" bays so I put my CDroms in bays 1 and 3. Same w/ my HDDs.

This make sense or could I do better with more airflow (case modding to use a fan in a couple of bays)?

Thatr sounds like a good concept but remember there is no point seperating the drives if the air does not move at all, so adding a fan would help as well.

You could argue that you might aid convection currents but fans in a small case will have a bigger cooling capability.

that definietly makes sense, but what Cjwinnit said is exactly right. You need airflow to cool down anything, no matter what the space.
