I was wondering if anyone knew if 66º C is running hot?
I kinda think so. This computer has run this way since we got it late January.
It's a K6-2 500 w/192MB Ram.

I was also wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a program that tells you your computers temparature. rather than having to restart everytime and read the BIOS hardware gauge.

This is a friends computer and we got it for a gaming purpose....well looks like the ^_^ is on us.

Some body help me...or shoot me...depending on how kind you are.

thanks

Check the amd websight for specs. I have one stored away, and at on time the fan quit runnin', and when I touched the heatsink I got burned. Couldn't understand how the system didn't shut down. They are s'posed to be cool to the touch normally though. By the way, that 66c comes out to be 150f. Doubt if it will last very long that way.

Well i would have to say that this is very hot for a K6-2/500.

Mine averaged around 33 celcious.

What cooler do you have, i recommend for a budget cooler on getting a Globalwin FOP38 or FOP32 (FOP38 is better).

Also make sure you have plenty of airflow in the case, add a few 80mm fans to get some airflow and get that heat away from the processor.

You shoud then be sorted, if you can stretch to it, you might wanna get a peltier - will come in hand when you upgrade to a biigger chip.

Hope this helps.
