View Full Version : Nailpolish???
I read that you can put nailpolish over the L1's after you have used the pencil trick, what I am wondering is, does this make it more permanent(mine went after only a week), or is it just to stop smudging? I closed mine put it back and didn't touch it again until today because they opened again, will the nailpolish stop this? I know that it's better to use a silver pen or defogger repair kit, but I am having alot of trouble findong them, so I am hoping to get this to work long enough to hold me over. Thanks.
a piece of scotch tape would work ;D
Wil that stop it from reopening or is that just to prevent smudges. I didn't even open the case after I closed them with the pencil, suddenly it just stopped working. If the scotch tape will help this I will give it a shot. When I went to retrace the pencil marks, they didn't look any different then when I first unlocked it, so I know I didn't smudge them. Please drop a line and let me know. Thanks :-)

I personally would stick to what we know.
You can use the tape and pencil/de-fogger/conductive pen trick or you can get the adhesive stick on unlocking tabs.
They are sticky pieces of plastic which you just place over the points and it unlocks it for you. No messyness - a real proper job.
As for the nailpolish - I wouldn't but it is up to you at the end of the day.
Also isn't nailpolish flamable??? might have a problem there if the temp gets too high??? Who knows???
Hope this helps.
I like the sound of those adhesive sticks, where do i find them, I wopuld really like to go that way if I could. Thanks :-)

They are on sale at Plycon (http://216.157.14.244/trace.htm).
Go there and have a look. They are a bit on the pricey side $23.99, but it comes with three pieces for multiple or re-doing of unlocking cpu's
Here are some screen shots:

if you still having trouble finding silver pens you can buy them by calling 1 800 the shack and saying you want a circuit writer 7 ml pen, catalog number is 91-3890. took one day to get mine with UPS 2nd day shipping. cost is 9.95 plus whatever shipping method you prefer.

does it work nice josh? i got a shack right around the corner. it'd be nice it was better than this damned pencil.
I would like to thank all who replied!! Rather than buy one of those adhesive plastic things, I decided to take a chance and build one.....AND IT WORKS!!! All it took was a little tin foil, an exacto knife, scotch tape, alot of time and even more patience.LOL! :-) After a couple of failures (turns out i hadn't pushed the tin onto the proc hard enough) There it was, 1133MHZ!!!! So again, I would like to thank all who replied, you have saved me!! Thanks :-)

i'll let you know tomorrow. i just unlocked my duron tonight and am waiting for my motherboard, it should be arriving tomorrow morning. the bridges were really small! had to use a needle to apply the silver from the pen. i found some directions from http://home.epix.net/~yaffy/howto/silverpen/spen.html.
this is my first overclock so i'm keeping my finger crossed.

hi, I'm thinking in OC'ng my AMD as well. Do you guys think if I use a stronger alchohol would hurt the cpu?? The article on the link above says to use 91% Ysopropyl alchohol, but the ysopropyl alchohol that I have is 99% alchohol(hmm, all this alchohol talk reminds me that I need to do some drinking soon :) ). therefore, would it hurt the cpu at all???
Thanks for any input.
