I found a supplier in the UK for the DLT3C 1700s ( overclockers.co.uk (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_AMD_CPUs_51.html) )and they are asking £41 plus shipping. Do you think its worth the hassle of selling on my 1800 palamino and getting one or should I just save it and wait till I can afford a full new system? I mean Will these be a long term stable solution for a decent chip or would I end up with something that I would have to be clearing the CMOS and reformatting every week?

i don't know how much that is in US $ but i would rather have the 1700 DLTC JIUHB chip over the 1800 pally...or barton 2500....
41is like 56 bucks correct me if I'm wrong. the 1700's are great investments i've been running 12.5*200 for 2 months now and i've never cleared cmos nor reformated my hardrive and my rig runs 24/7

Bigdogbmx, I took a look at the link you provided, and I would highly recommend that you make sure it is a JIUHB DLT3C 1700+ and not a AIUGA DLT3C 1700+. There is a huge difference in how far they will overclock.
If it is a JIUHB DLT3C, then I would definitely consider getting one. I have 2 in my sig, running at 2.4 GHz and 2.35 GHz.

Thanks Ill check on the stepping, all they said in their email was 'we have all DLTs in stock', so Ill annoy them some more. There is another on ebay which is a jiuhb and Im trying to get him to take my 1800 and 10 pounds or £35 straight up but he doesnt seem into it. So we shall see. With some luck (and a bit of work :P) Ill have a chilled water system going soon too so this could work out good.

BigDogMX:
AXDA1700DLT3C "JIUHB"
Excaliber: They can be purchase all day long without limitations
for $63 plus $5 S/H. This is down from their $72 high in June. A
Retail JIUHB-DLT3C could be had for $73. A serious
consideration to the OC'er, given the 3 year warranty plus HSF.
NewEgg.com: They were selling AXDA1700 DLT3C-JIUHB at $41 for about a week, until they found would what they were doing and changed the description earlier this month. I was lucky and got 2. Then I ordered 6 more, the description was changed and I received AIUGA.
But to Edward2 comments, the AIUGA to OC just fine in my experience. It beat the pants of my 2400+ "A" and 2500+ Barton, and jumbed to 2.3ghz in the first OC'ing session. I'm early in the benchmarking process, but it already has proven its value beyond the $41 I paid for it.
I'm very curious about the DLT3C-AIUGA

someone, either here or another forum, has an aiuga or airga 1700 and it's doing 2100MHz....for $41, that ain't too bad....

I have a "U" chip, & I bought it used.
I love this chip.
The ability to work with it is fantastic.
Factory unlocked & all the FSB my system can take.
(12x170) - (KT333 mobo)
Well worth the 40 lira (if thats right)
IMHO

Alternatively you could get a guaranteed DLT3C 0307VPMW from www.pclincs.co.uk - That is, if you like your CPUs picked and not by luck. $45 for the 1800+
They're usuall good for about 200mhz extra. If you think that's worth the extra $, go for it.

see my signature. they are good for at lot more than that. But you need the other hardware to go with it ie CPU cooler, memory, mobo, psu
Some girls do, some girls don't. :D I've got a xp1700+ DLT3C 0310 WPMW that tops out at 2300.

Could you elaborate please? Are you saying that the 0307 sucks for OC'ing??? I believe james.miller had his up to about 2.3 on air.

BTW, 40 lira is about 0.0237083 USD
Now that would be a bargain!

I got mine from a computerfair. just go along to a few and ask the venders there if they have any, they are pretty friendly and will let you look through their trays of cpu's and you can hand pick the one you want...if they have them, but i bought an 1800+ JUIHB 0307 from my local computerfair here in London £47 about 4 months ago.It will do 2.4 on air too.
I had some bad dealings with overclockers.co.uk they are fine until there's a problem. It took them 4 months to refund a faulty NF7-S i bought from them. only cos i got the credit card company to handle it. otherwise i would not got the refund at all.
another place is cpucity.co.uk but again if they have any instock as they give the stepping off the cpu.

I find it very hard to believe that your AIUGA 1700+ beat your 2400+ "A", seeing how the 2400's are B revision ONLY. That being said, the B revision processor will overclock far higher 99% of the time, than *ANY* A revision T-bred will.
If you really got 2.3ghz out of a T-bred A consider yourself very lucky. That is an exceptional overclock, you may be toward the top of the list in the database. I suggest you record your results there.
Generally speaking, T-bred A's are not so good at overclocking. I'd like to point this out so that people are not confused into thinking 2.3ghz is a likely value for an overclock using these chips. See the AMD CPU database on this website for an average of the AIUGA's. I believe it's somewhere around 1.9 ghz. Having used several T-bred A's, I was unable to make it past 1.9ghz on any of them.
