It's a Samsung Syncmaster 957MB 19in.
I while back I bought this monitor because of all the good things I heard about, but as soon as I got it I noticed something that might be easy to fix but I never got around to it.
The problem is at every resolution and refresh rate there seems to be a sort of misaligned picture tube...like around the whole picture I see DARK black lines...they are the least noticeable at 1024x768 @ 85 HZ, but that is a pretty low refresh rate considering what this monitor is capable of. If I increase the resolution the DARK black lines around the screen get noticeably larger and wider to the point where it is unbearable, and I just forget about it and go back. Same thing happens if I lower the resolution for a game. The same thing happens when I increase the refresh rate on my monitor (I have the reforce program too).
When I play games such as CS, I have to play at 640x480 so I can get a reasonable amount of frames per second with my outdated videocard...this is where it really gets bad. I start the game and the black lines are even larger and more noticeable and the placement is awful, this is when I'm playing it @ 85 HZ...it's almost like I have a 17in monitor when I'm playing games :( .
I emailed Samsung tech support about this problem awhile back right after I got the monitor...they said they never heard about such a problem...which meant they weren't much of a help.
But I don't think it is a bad/defective monitor at all, a few of the customer reviews also had the same problem, here is a quote from one of them:
"Got this thing when it first hit the market. The tube aligned well on the screen after some minor tweaking. Overall quality is outstanding"
All I would like to do is fix this problem because it doesn't seem like it's impossible.
Anymore questions I am willing to answer in regards to this problem.
