Now that I chiped the K6 2-500 core :-( do I go with a K6III or K6 2+, Mobo supports both. And of course it will be OC'd!! Thanks !!!

K6III+, would be the best answer for you, provided that the mobo supports the "+"(mobile) series of chips.
Remember that the K6III line of chips have L1& L2 cache onboard.
See the thread started by "bwarz" for some pitfalls.

If you're talking about a K6-III (no +) vs. a K6-2+, go for the K6-2+. The regular K6-III doesn't O/C much, but any K6-2+ will go to 600 MHz minimum. In addition, the K6-2+ is really a K6-III+ with a smaller cache.

My experience with the K6III chips has shown that you can overclock the K6III or the K6III+. I've gotten a K6III350 to 450MHz with no problems, about a 30% increase in speed, not too shabby. I've also gotten a K6III+450 to 600MHz with the appropriate BIOS and little else, about a 33% increase. I'm sure that anybody with 1g T-BIRD would love results such as these. This just goes to show that the results will vary, given the different circumstances. Keep in mind that the K6III's have more cache (on chip), therefore making them a better choice, clock for clock.
Although from what I've seen, the supply of K6III's is becoming a bit sparce, making them pretty pricey.
Just make sure that the mobo that you chose supports the "+" series of chips and has the correct bios updates that you may need.
