i have one of each, the T-bird is faster for gamming, p3 is fast for the mhz for apps. like seti@home my t-bird is 250mfops and the p3 is 180mfops. the p3 is only a 900 compared to the t-bird which is a 1533mhz. for that comparison the p3 holds it own!
urs has 256meg ram his only has 128 thats why..more ram = more stability and faster pc...and u have the voodoo 3 geforce is more cpu dependent from what i have heard..however the geforce 3 does all of the grpahical work...and i mean ALL of it

They are about the same. Each is slightly faster in different games, but not enough to make a difference. Tbird is cheaper, and faster (goes to 1.2 rather than 1.0 GHz). I'd suggest going AMD due to price.
Thanks for all the info guys. However, I think I just convinced my friend to go with a TBird.
